Chocolate Coconut Fancies Squares
These are one of my most favorite squares and I honestly have a problem stopping at just a few....
What you will need:
1st layer: (Crust)
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine
- 1/4 cup of white sugar
- 3 tbsp cocoa
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1 egg
- 2 cups crushed Graham wafers
- 1/2 cup coconut
- 1/2 cup nuts
2nd layer: (frosting)
- 1/4 cup margarine
- 2 cups icing sugar
- 2 tbsp hot milk
- 1/2 tsp almond flavoring
3rd layer:
- 2 squares of chocolate
- 1 tsp margarine
4th layer:
- 1/4 cup coconut
How to make them:
- For the 1st layer put the butter or margarine, white sugar, cocoa, vanilla and egg in a double boiler and cook on med-low until smooth - approx. 5 minutes. Add crushed graham wafers, coconut and nuts to mixture and remove from heat.
- Press into a lightly greased 9 x 12 pan.
- For the 2nd layer mix together margarine, hot milk, icing sugar and almond flavoring - Spread onto 1st mixture.
- Melt the 2 squares chocolate and 1 tsp of margarine and let cool - pour on top of frosting layer.
- Sprinkle remaining coconut on top.
- Place in fridge until cooled.
