Laila and I did a little baking while Sophie napped this afternoon. Both Laila and Hayden love to help me in the kitchen so I really try to involve them whenever possible. A favorite cookie in our house is Peanut Butter Blossoms. The really fun part for Laila is she is the official placer of the Hershey's kiss on the cookies when they come out of the oven.
Here is the recipe (originally from Betty Crocker's website) we have been using for a few years and they always turn out very yummy !!
What you will need:
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup of butter or margarine, softened
2 eggs
3 cups of all purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
Additional granulated sugar (about 2 tablespoons)
About 7 dozen Hershey Kisses
How to make them:
- Heat oven to 375 F. In a large bowl, beat 1/2 cup of sugar, the brown sugar, peanut butter, butter and eggs with electric mixer on med. speed or mix with a spoon. Stir in flour, baking soda and baking powder.
- Shape dough into 1-inch balls; rolls in additional granulated sugar. Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are light brown. Immediately press 1 chocolate candy into center of each cookie. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.
Note: When I make them I usually only get between 60-65 but I might make them a bit bigger then what is called for. I use my smallest melon baller to scoop the dough.

those are precious! And you have to love the name, "Peanut Butter Blossoms!" I did a cookie swap last weekend and got a dozen of those. I made Peanut Butter cookies...the recipe I learned from the little 4-H cookbook. They were perfect!
